Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
